About

About Me Professionally:

I completed my Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Michigan State University. After interning in the Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder clinics at the Ann Arbor VA Healthcare system, I worked in civilian outpatient clinics and medical offices in Michigan and New Hampshire. I opened my practice in 2021 to focus on working with my ideal population and approaches.

I’m licensed in several states and have PsyPact, which allows me to practice telehealth in any PsyPact participating state: https://psypact.gov/page/psypactmap.

I have formal training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for SuicidePrevention (CBT-SP) and Insomnia (CBT-I), Prolonged Exposure (PE) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). I also completed a psychoanalytic psychotherapy fellowship.

About Me Personally:

I am a wife and sister-in-law of local law enforcement officers. Most people assume that I focus on first responders because of my husband, but it started over a decade ago at a holiday dinner, when my brother-in-law asked me what kind of self protection equipment I used in my private practice. I did a double take, trying to figure out if he was being serious. He was.

Disturbed when my reply was “nothing”, we proceeded to go back and forth about the practical and ethical considerations of weapons in a psychologist’s office. That conversation ended with me looking up how to defend myself with a knotted tube sock filled with D batteries… and left an enduring impact as I wondered wtaf happened to provoke that line of questioning.

Some 15 years later, life with a patrol officer has given me the background I was missing back then. I have a much greater appreciation for the mental load of holding things together after tough situations, the toll of shift work, the importance of having trusted peers and admin, and the cost of not being able to “unknow” what you know.

When I’m not in the office, you’ll find me with my family or training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
